The development of an active dialogue with the community at large is being increasingly important for Swedish universities. This meens not only the general public but also organisations such as schools, public authorities, and commercial enterprises.
In addition to outreach activities based in the city of Göteborg, the department makes full use of its "outstations" to reach a wider range of individuals and organisations. These include the two marine field stations at Tjärnö and Kristineberg.
We also have an active collaboration in both teaching and research with Nordens Ark, an animal park engaged in the preservation of endangered species.
In connection to an ITEX-meeting in Texas in January 2012 prof. Ulf Molau was interviewed in a radiostation at The University of Texas at El Paso. Ulf tells about his science background and the research within International Tundra Experiment (ITEX).
