Workshop
The Objectives of this workshop are to review the state-of-the art of P models, especially N-P interactions, discuss possible new conceptual representations of N-P interactions as well as possibilities for comparison studies with field data.
Background:
Synergistic interactions between limited nutrient supplies of P and N are widespread in terrestrial ecosystems, for example evidence in several long-term fertilization experiments in Sweden. Recent research also highlights the increasing importance of P and its co-limitation with N in regulating terrestrial biogeochemical processes under current global changes, i.e., climate change and recovery of soil acidification. Within MERGE, P cycle are included in models in various degree with different focuses. There is an urgent need of synthesizing the N-P interactions in order to a better understand and model the biogeochemistry of P in current ecosystem models. This could significantly improve the predictions of interactions between biogeochemical cycles in a changing environment.
