Botanical building

The Botanical building is located next to the botanical garden and here research related to botany (plant biology) and environmental sciences is conducted.

In addition, a lot of our teaching regarding plants and environmental sciences takes placei n the botanical building. You will meet som of the study administration, and most of the economym and HR administrators are located here some days per week.

Zoology building

The Zoology building is located at Medicinareberget and here research is conducted within different aspects of zoology (animal biology). Here we have a big animal facility, with both fresh- and saltwater aquaria.

There is a lot of teaching also at the Zoology building, mainly courses in zoology and pharmacy. A lage part of the study administration is located here, as well as many of the economy and HR administrators.

The Kristineberg marine research station is located in Fiskebäckskil, and is run by the Sven Lovén Centre for Marine Infrastructure. The station was opened in 1877 and is one of the worlds oldest marine stations for research and education.

Kristineberg is situated by the mouth of the Gullmar fiord with easy access to both coastal environments and open sea, and there are several well equipped  aboratories with running water from the fiord. There are also thermo constant rooms (CT-rooms) and outdoor facilities, all with running seawater of high capacity and quality, is essential for the research performance at the department. The easy access to a range of marine environments offers excellent opportunities for field experiments, collection of live organisms for laboratory and outdoor mesocosm experiments, and for culturing of marine organisms.
