Research profile seminar

Adelino V M Canario is professor at University of Algarve (Portugal) and a specialist in fish physiology. He is the Director of the Centre of Marine Sciences (ccmar.ualg.pt) at the same university since 1994 and leads the Comparative and Molecular Endocrinology research group together with Prof. Deborah Power.
The main research interests are the comparative physiology and endocrinology of fishes, in particular chemosensory biology in relation to reproduction and behaviour, sex determination and puberty, osmoregulatory systems and adaptation to extreme and special environments. Research in Antarctica focuses on physiological and transcriptomic adjustments to global change, in particular osmoregulation and temperature adaptation.
