Environmental science is a broad research area that covers several subjects and methods. Basically, it deals with how living organisms reside and reproduce in a changing environment as a result of release of hazardous chemicals or climate change.

At the department these environmental challenges are studied in lakes, the sea an on land, that is in limnic, marine and terrestrial ecosystems.
