Minimal intervention

The first series shows the nature reserve Rya åsar, with our minimal intervention plot (closed-canopy forest, even though not easy to see here). The photo series (2002-2013) shows litte change over time. In the center is an oak stem, with beech to the left, and scattered Norway spruce in the background. Tree growth is visible, and at one point a snag falls.
The second series (follows directly after the first) is from 2002-2013 in our minimal intervention plot near Fårbo, showing
hazel shrub, an oak stem, and other trees in the understory. The changes are minor over time, but note the dying oak, also leading to some more sprouting stems of hazel and more plants in the field layer.
