Animal Labs Zoology building

In the Zoology building it´s possible to keep fish, amphibians, reptiles and mouse/rat which are used by research groups both within and outside BioEnv. The research range over a wide field which include terrester, limnic and marine environments.

The installation is covering 600 square meter and contains among other things:

  • Four separate systems of aquariums (three for freshwater and one for salt water) each containing 16 square meters
  • Cooling tanks, sand filters, UV sterilisation, protein skimmers and thermostat controlled temperature
  • One lesser water lab with a five square meter recirculating system of thermostat controlled water, sand filter, UV filter and mechanical prefiltering of the water
  • Several water labs connected to the four aquarium systems
  • A thermostat controlled water lab connected to both fresh and salt water
  • Room for keeping birds
  • Thermostat controlled tropical room (28 °C)
  • Thermostat controlled dry lab (5–20 °C)
  • Room for keeping amphibians
  • Room for keeping reptiles, with daylight equipment
  • Room for surgery and taking of specimens
